Landmark
Services Cooperative Crush Plant Feasibility Study Summary
Landmark
Services Cooperative recently received the site specific
feasibility study for a soybean processing plant in Evansville,
Wisconsin prepared by Robert Carlson and Norman Spaeth.
The
projected economic feasibility of the Evansville plant
is expected to be somewhat better than the non-site specific
study for a plant in southern Wisconsin prepared for the
Wisconsin Soybean Marketing Board. The projected cost
of the plant utilizing the grain handling elevator owned
by Landmark in Evansville is approximately $80-$85,000,000,
including working capital.
Landmark’s
Board of Directors is very encouraged by the study results
and has formed a project development team headed by Board
President John Blaska. The team’s assignment is
to move quickly to identify and contact large agriculture
based companies with the financial resources and related
expertise that can help move the project forward.
Mr.
Blaska estimates that approximately $40,000,000 of equity
will be needed to get the project underway. “While
it may be possible to raise that much money in a public
offering, we are going to first discuss the plant opportunity
with companies with experience in the business and the
financial resources to make it happen sooner than later.”
added Blaska. Blaska estimates it will take two to three
months to fully discuss the opportunity with the identified
companies.
