A
coalition of leaders in the state’s biodiesel
industry have advanced a legislative action plan that
will help place biodiesel production as a substantial
contributor to Wisconsin’s growing bioindustry.
As a result, biodiesel appears to be getting its share
of attention in the state budget deliberations currently
underway in Madison.

The
growth of the biodiesel industry in Wisconsin has sparked
a resurgent effort from the state’s soybean growers
to gain local processing for their product. “Wisconsin
farmers have good reason to applaud the growth of the
biodiesel industry in the state,” says Bob Karls,
Executive Director of the Wisconsin Soybean Association.

in Evansville
Governor Jim Doyle today broke ground on a new biodiesel
refining facility in Evansville
and announced $125,000 from the Department of Transportation
and $125,000 from the Department of Commerce.

Groundbreaking Ceremony set for March 26
North Prairie Productions, LLC, (NPP) has announced
a March 26th groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the
upcoming construction of their 45 million gallon per
year capacity biodiesel plant in Evansville, WI. Festivities
are scheduled to start at 9:30 am with Governor Jim
Doyle on hand for the ceremonial groundbreaking at 10:00.

$24 million committed toward goal of $25 million
That’s
the word from North Prairie Productions, LLC. The announcement
appeared in a letter recently sent to over 650 subscribers
from Wisconsin who have already committed to the 45
million gallon per year biodiesel project in Evansville.

The
National Biodiesel Board (NBB) applauded two biodiesel
champions, Representatives Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Kenny
Hulshof (R-MO), for introducing the Renewable Fuels

DNR Approves Air Permits for North Prairie Productions
A proposed biodiesel facility in Evansville moved one
step closer to groundbreaking this week with the announcement
that the Wisconsin DNR has approved the air permits
required for construction and operation of the facility.
Such air permits are issued subsequent to the state
DNR making a comprehensive and site-specific examination
of possible emissions that might arise from any proposed
industrial development.

Firm Leads Biodiesel Effort in Wisconsin
Upon
failing to find a ready source of biodiesel to be used
in his company’s vehicles, the owner of a Wisconsin
trucking firm has decided to lead an effort to build
a biodiesel plant and thus increase the availability
of the renewable fuel for his fleet of nearly 60 trucks:

The company is building a plant in the Evansville, Wis.,
area that will annually produce up to 45 million gallons
of biodegradable, biodiesel fuel employing well-established
technologies that meet strict industry standards. The
company expects to have the plant operational in 2007.

Services Cooperative on the east side of Evansville
